To review the health care scenario in the district, Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh on Wednesday chaired a meeting of senior health functionaries here in the mini-meeting hall of DC office complex. At the outset, Chief Medical Officer Dr Hamid Zargar presented a detailed report on the implementation and achievements under health care schemes and the healthcare facilities being extended to the patients in the district.
The CMO briefed the chair about the functioning of the health department and indicator wise achievements of the department. It was informed that the district has 211 health care institutions, including one GMC, 3 SDHs, 13 PHCs, and 29 NTPHCs. The meeting was also apprised about the staff position in the health care centers across the district. Regarding the Prime Ministers National Dialysis programme (PMNDP), it was informed that one dialysis centre is operational at AH-GMC Doda, catering to the needs of erstwhile district Doda.
Referring to Maternal and Pediatric care, it was informed that the AH-GMC Doda has 10 ICU beds for maternal care and 12 ICU beds for pediatrics , while 4 ICU beds for Maternal care have been exclusively kept at SDH Bhaderwah. It was revealed that Oxygen plants at AH-GMC, SDH Gandoh and SDH Bhaderwah are fully functional with the generation capacity of 5400 LPM. The DC directed the CMO to ensure that the plants remain functional and are maintained properly. He further inquired about the screening of Non communicable Diseases (NCD), ABHA registration, Awareness and Mega health Camps under Ayushman Bhava, Blood Donation Camps, RBSK screening of Children, Establishment of Maternity care huts at PHCs and CHCs, Positioning/ Stationing of Ambulances, National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), Anaemia Mukht Bharat Abhiyan, Immunization (IMI 5.0), Achievements under Developmental Deliverables and works taken up under Capex budget.
While reviewing the availability of Doctors at Associated Hospital and other health care centers in the District, the DC asked to send the roster of Consultants and Doctors to the Emergency Response cell of the DC office and give it wide publicity for the information of the general public. He emphasized the streamlining of the control rooms in AH, PHCs, and CHCs, with fully functional helpline numbers. He urged to share the roads leading to all PHCs, & CHCs with the PWD/ PMGSY authorities so that road opening plans for the ensuing winter may be prepared in advance for the better and timely health care to the patients, especially pregnant women.
The DC also exhorted the health care officials to strive towards achieving 100% institutional deliveries by mobilizing ASHAs, Anganwadi Workers, and extensive awareness among the pregnant ladies. He called for having complete data of pregnant ladies with their expected date of delivery (EDD) to have a proper health care plan for them. He said that the winter, snow, or any other natural or manmade barriers may not prevent the assured health care facilities to the pregnant ladies for their safe delivery.
The DC has instructed the CMO to share and publicize the roster of the RBSK teams for overall health care of the children. He stressed to ensure availability of essential medicines, equipment, and staff in all the health care centers across the district, especially in the rural area, so that the people don’t suffer during the ensuing winter. He asked the CMO not to allow any laxity of the staff under him and sanction the leaves with utmost care and prior alternative arrangements so that the health care services of any of the centers don’t suffer. He further instructed to relocate the ALS and BLS Ambulances under 108 services as per the needs of the area, as decided in the earlier meetings. He urged to have ALS Ambulances at Assar and Thathri, with the high risk of road mishaps as being the highway towns.
The DC directed the MS Medical College to ensure that the patients are given immediate attention and the referrals to GMC Jammu are minimized.
The DC has emphasized to get the civil works completed as per the set timeline and undergo purchases of the essential equipment etc. under Capex budget within a week’s time.
