Smuggling attempt foiled on LoC in Poonch, three arrested including arms and narcotics: J&K

Security forces have foiled a smuggling attempt near the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu division. The army opened fire in view of suspicious activities along the Line of Control in Karmada area of ​​the district. After this, three accused have been arrested from the spot. Weapons and narcotics have been recovered from their possession. 

The army immediately cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation, officials said. One of the three arrested accused is injured. An army soldier has also been injured in this operation. The arrested accused have been identified as Mohd Farooq (26), Mohd Riaz (23) and Mohd Zubair (22). All are residents of Karmada. Accused Farooq has a bullet in his leg.

It is being told that the accused had received a consignment of arms and drugs from across the border and were trying to smuggle it when the soldiers caught them. An AK rifle, two pistols, six grenades, an improvised explosive device (IED) kept in a pressure cooker and 20 packets of suspected heroin were recovered from them. A search operation has been launched in the area. Police and army investigation is going on in the matter.
