Devotees Throng temples on occasion of Shivratri

The festival of Mahashivratri is being celebrated with full faith and reverence not only in Jammu but also in the Kashmir Valley. While the temples of Jammu were flooded with devotees since early morning, long queues of devotees are also being seen for the darshan of Lord Shankaracharya, who is seated on the Hari Parvat in the Kashmir Valley. The praises of Har Har Mahadev are resonating in the valley. Not only tourists but many people from the Kashmiri Pandit community are also reaching for the darshan of Lord Shiva seated in the ancient Shankaracharya temple.

On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, the biggest festival of worship of Lord Shiva, the city of temples is completely engrossed in the glory of Lord Shiva. Everywhere, Baba Bhole Nath’s cheers are echoing.

Baba Bhandari’s Jai Ghosh and Bhajan Kirtan are being done. There have been long queues of devotees in the temples of Lord Shiva since early morning. By ten o’clock in the morning, you had seen more than ten thousand devotees in the Shambhu temple, Rupnagar. More than 15 thousand devotees had darshan in Shree Ranbireshwar Temple, Shalamar.

Since morning, there have been long queues for the visitors in the ancient cave Peerkho, Panchbakhtar temple. The Shiva temples of every street also see a flood of reverence. Special lighting decoration in all Shiva temples on Shivratri Hundreds of stores have been organized across the city.

The faith and enthusiasm of the devotees are visible insight. Special spirit is being seen in the Kashmiri Pandit community regarding Shivratri. In AapShambhu temple, Roopnagar, devotees started pouring in from the evening itself. Worship continued till late at night in the temple.

Bhandaras and special poojas have been organized since morning. More than 25 Bhandaras have been organized around the Aapshambhu temple. There are also dozens of Bhandaras in Peerkho. Special cultural programs will also be organized in Peerkho in the evening. According to the Hindu calendar, the festival of Mahashivratri is celebrated on the Chaturdashi date of the Krishna Paksha of Falgun month. According to mythological beliefs, the marriage of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati took place on the auspicious occasion of the date of Mahashivaratri. Therefore, on the day of Mahashivratri, worshipping Lord Shiva and performing Jalabhishek to Lord Shiva fulfil all a person’s wishes.
