Jammu Smart City Limited will give a chance to the youth of Jammu to buy or drive an e-rickshaw. The subsidy will also be given to the youth under the possible scheme.
Jammu Smart City has sought applications from the youth of Jammu for this. Under this, youth will get an e-rickshaw worth Rs 3.22,025 for Rs 1,65,620 after subsidy. Under the Jammu Smart City Project, in the first phase, preparations are being made to run e-rickshaws from JDA Bus Stand, Ranveer Market, Raghunath Bazar, Bharat Mata Chowk, Indira Chowk. Two hundred e-rickshaws will run under the first phase.
Travelling in the city will be accessible through e-rickshaw. The journey of two to five kilometres in e-rickshaw will be completed in just five and ten rupees. People have to pay Rs.100 to Rs.150 through auto. Most of the problems are faced by small businessmen and people. People’s pockets are getting loose due to the lack of buses. The trial on this has also been successful. Not only this but tenders have also been invited from companies for running rickshaws, which will be approved soon.
There are plans to run 800 e-rickshaws in the city. With this, it will also help in making the city pollution-free. The facility is to be provided by the company in three phases. 200 e-rickshaws will run in the first phase, 600 e-rickshaws in the second and third. Under the Smart City Project, where the face of the city is slowly changing. The facilities available to the people have also started increasing. Travelling by e-rickshaw will be much cheaper than auto. At present, Matador is followed by auto service in the city. But on hiring an auto, you have to pay 100 rupees for two to three kilometres.
Hitesh Gupta, Deputy CEO, Jammu Smart City Limited, says that e-rickshaws will be started in March. Preparations have been started for this. Youngsters also come forward and apply. The subsidy will be given to the youth to buy rickshaws. The process of awarding contracts to some companies is also going on.
For e-rickshaw facility, Raghunath Bazar, Bahu Plaza, Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Narwal, Satwari, Kunjwani, Gangyal, Janipur, Bus Stand, Railway Station, Muthi, Rupnagar, Jewel Chowk, Bahu Fort, Places like Talab Tillo etc. have been selected. With this, passengers can travel comfortably from one place to another. Passengers will have to bear the fixed fare only. Earlier, garbage was to be picked up in the old city through e-rickshaw, but the e-rickshaw could not climb during the trial. Due to this, the project had to be cancelled. Now there is a plan to start an e-rickshaw service to provide affordable facilities.
