There was talk of the arrest of two suspects by Jammu and Kashmir’s Anti-Terrorist Squad Special Operation Group (SOG) from Bajalta in Sidra on the city’s outskirts. Senior police officials, however, denied that the suspect had been caught.

According to sources, weapons have also been recovered from the arrested suspects. One person caught is said to be a resident of Shopian in Kashmir, while the other is said to be a foreigner. Both the suspects had come from Kashmir to the Bajalta area of Jammu some time ago. He was taken to the SOG’s safe house for questioning.

Security forces in the city were alerted to information about the suspect’s arrest from the outskirts of Jammu. Surveillance intensified at bus stands, railway stations and congested areas of Jammu. There is no denying that both the suspects must have come to Jammu to carry out some crime.

At the same time, senior police officers have again directed all the station in-charges to expedite the verification process of tenants living in the city and its outskirts. Often in the winter season, many families from Kashmir come to Jammu to save themselves from the cold. Under the guise of these people, supporters of many terrorists also turn to Jammu to hide.
