The Army officer has allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, police here said on Sunday.
Police said that late on Saturday night, the Police Post Khari received an information one Army officer identified as Major Parvinder Singh, resident of Priyadarshini Vihar, New Delhi, posted in Ramban, allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with AK 47 service rifle at his residential quarter in Army Camp, Banihal.
“We have registered the case under relevant sections and have started the investigation to find out that what led the officer to take an extreme step,” police said.
“No suicide note or any other document was found from the spot,” they said.
