The people of Jammu can get the gift of Ring Road this month. Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari can inaugurate this 58 km long ring road on December 15. Because of the inauguration deadline, the agency engaged in constructing the ring road has started working day and night with great speed.
The Ring Road Patti, Badi Brahmana, Maralian, Meera Sahib, Laleyal, Alora, Saunhajana, Ghou Manhasan, Karloop, Kangrel, Bhalwal, Kot Kheri, via Raya Mor of Jammu, exits on Jammu Srinagar National Highway Jagti. Although an eight-kilometre stretch of Ring Road was inaugurated by Minister Jitendra Singh in the Prime Minister’s Office earlier, Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari is reaching to inaugurate the entire project.
Eight major and 101 minor bridges have been built on this four-lane ring road. In addition, 308 culverts, two significant flyovers, five motor underpasses and eight pedestrian passes have been made. This Ring Road crosses Nikki Tawi and Badi Tawi, and besides this, 42 small drains are also crossing Ring Road without any stop.
With the running of this road, the pollution of vehicles in the city will not only be reduced but there will also be a reduction in traffic jams in the city. Apart from this, the Ring Road passes through the villages of 54 Jammu and six villages of Samba, and its direct benefit will also be given to the people of those villages. Most of these villages were not connected by the direct connectivity road earlier. Still, due to the running of this road, these villages will now have direct connectivity with other cities and towns.
The construction of Ring Road in Jammu started in 2017, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid its foundation stone in 2018. The estimated cost of construction of Ring Road is Rs 2,024 crore. Two four-lane tunnels have also been built to connect this road with Jagati.
