T20 World Cup: FIR against MBBS students for raising pro-Pak slogans in Kashmir

Police have booked medicos of two primer Medical Colleges in Srinagar under Anti-Terror law to celebrate the Pakistan cricket team’s win over arch-rival India in the T20 World Cup Match played in Dubai on Sunday.

An official said that Police had taken notice of two incidents particularly – one at the hostel of the SKIMS hospital in Soura and another at the hostel of the Government Medical College (GMC) in Karan Nagar – both in Srinagar.

An FIR was filed at Police Station Soura (FIR No. 104/2021) against medicos and warden of SKIMS Soura for celebrating the Pakistan cricket team’s win over India on Sunday night. The students pursuing MBBS and other degrees and residing in the un-married hostel of SKIMS Soura raised slogans and burst firecrackers after Pakistan’s win.

The case has been registered under section 13 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), 105A and 505 IPC.

Police registered another case (FIR no. 71/2021) under section 13 of the UAPA at the Police Station Karan Nagar against the students residing at the GMC hostel who raised slogans and danced soon after Pakistan won.

These are open FIRs, accused cases are yet to be identified, and investigations have been taken up.
