Young writer Ganga Sharma was felicitated with Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar 2020 for the year 2020 in a mega function organised from 17-19october 2021 at Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, Bengaluru, Karnataka. Sahitya Akademi president Chadershekhara Kambara and Hindi poet Arun Kamal felicitated Ganga Sharma for her 29 poems “Mannae Da Buaal” collection. Altogether 24 writers and poets of 24 languages were also felicitated at the event. The recipients of the award were provided with a citation and a cheque of ₹50,000.
Ganga Sharma was selected for this award on 12th March this year. A resident of Karwal village of Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua district, Ganga Sharma is a daughter of National & international awardee Sh. Raj Kumar retired lecturer and State awardee retired teacher Smt. Geeta Devi is presently serving as Assistant Professor in the Dogri Department of GCW PARADE GROUND, JAMMU. Besides this prestigious award, she was already conferred with “Swami Brahmanand Teerth Samman ” & “Duggar Rattan Puraskar” in 2018.
