MoS Jal Shakti inspects Rangil Plant; interacts with Paani Samiti members

GANDERBAL: Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Food Processing Industries, Prahlad Singh Patel on Monday visited Ganderbal and inspected functioning of Rangil Water Treatment Plant here.

The Minister was accompanied by Commissioner Secretary Jal Shakti Department, M Raju; Mission Director Jal Jeevan Mission, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah; Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Ms Krittika Jyotsna; Chairperson DDC Ganderbal, Ms Nuzhat Ishfaq; Chief Engineer PHE Kashmir, Iftikhar Ahmad and other concerned. The Minister inspected various units of the plant and enquired about the functioning of each unit viz filtration, supplying of water to households, storage capacity, water reservoirs and water testing laboratories.

On the occasion, the minister was informed that the water treatment plants at Rangil feed portable drinking water to a large population of Srinagar City through its 51.63 km long pipeline. A detailed briefing was given to the Minister about the purification process and the source of the water from Sindh River. He was further informed that Ganderbal was the first district in Jammu and Kashmir where 100 percent tap water target was achieved. Earlier, the Minister also interacted with Paani Samiti members who informed him about the achievement of target of tap water in their respective areas. Speaking on the occasion, Prahlad Patel noted that the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to provide all basic amenities of life.

He said that during his interaction with Paani Samiti members he took note of various issues flagged by the members which will be taken with the Government of India for redressal.

Earlier on his arrival, the Union Minister of State paid obeisance at Mata Kheerbhawani Temple at Tulmullah and prayed for happiness, prosperity and well-being of all.
