JAMMU: Khour Police arrested notorious criminal, who was wanted in various heinous crime cases registered with different police stations.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Police Station Khour led by SHO Inspector Balwinder Singh under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial conducted a search operation regarding presence of an absconding notorious criminal, who was wanted in various heinous crime cases. During the search operation, the notorious criminal identified as Mohammad Mushtaq alias Gongi alias Gora, son of Mohammad Mussa of Maralian Miran Sahib, at present Troti Jourian District Jammu was arrested.
The accused was wanted in a murder case registered with Police Station Kud and later became active in Samba, Kathua and Jammu districts and was involved in various crimes including scrap theft, bovines smuggling, cattle theft, vehicle lifting besides attempt to murder and rape. During the year 2019, the accused alongwith his gang was active in theft cases and in this connection, five FIRs were registered by District Police Samba. He was also involved in bovines smuggling from Punjab, Kathua and Samba areas. In January 2021, he alongwith his gang, in a well planned criminal conspiracy, raped one elderly lady. During investigation, other accused persons were arrested but he again managed to escape to Punjab and was absconding since then.
Different FIRs stands registered against him at Police Stations Samba, Vijaypur, Kud, Khour and Nagrota. It is pertinent to mention that since the accused was wanted in numerous FIRs, his arrest will help in conclusion of various heinous crime cases registered across Jammu Province besides his arrest will lead to further arrests of his accomplices and gang members which will be a major dent to the bovine smuggling nexus prevalent particular from Punjab and adjoining areas.
The arrest was made under the supervision of SP Rural Jammu Sanjay Sharma.
