REASI: In a shocking incident, a young woman was brutally murdered by her estranged husband at Khunderdhan under the jurisdiction of Police Station Chassana, Reasi.
The deceased was identified as Shamim Akhtar (22), daughter of Mohd Abdullah, who was married to Shabir, son of Abdul Rashid. Acting swiftly, Police has arrested the accused husband along with his elder brother Abdul Majeed who had butchered the victim by slitting her throat with a sharp edged weapon ‘Draat’ when she was grazing cattle in the field nearby her parental village. According to Police, deceased Shamim was married to Shabir around three years back and over the time relations between the two soured following which the woman was sent back to her parents’ home by the husband.
On the day of Eid festival when entire village was in festivity, the poor innocent woman Shamim Akhtar was attacked and murdered by none other than her own husband leaving her dead body in pool of blood in the fields where she was grazing cattle. After committing murder, both the accused fled away from the scene of crime. The matter was brought into the notice of Police Station Chassana by Manzoor Ahmed, brother of the deceased. On being informed, Police team shifted the dead body to hospital and registered case FIR number 30/2021 U/S 302 IPC in this connection at Police station Chassana.
Simultaneously, a Police team swung into action and after tracking for more than four hours on hills in showers of monsoon, arrested one accused Abdul Majeed from upper reaches of Kunderdan forest area when he was trying to sneak into Kashmir valley via Kounsarnag mountain pass. Meanwhile, another team was entrusted the responsibility of tracking the husband, other accused in the murder. After getting clue about his presence in Rajouri district, police team immediately rushed there and after a series of raids, the accused husband was arrested from Bela Colony area of Rajouri when he was trying to hire a vehicle for Kashmir valley via Mughal Road in early hours of this morning.
Hence, both the accused were arrested in less than 20 hours of commission of heinous crime. Further investigation into the case is going on.
