Ramban police foiled a narcotic smuggling bid at Bhaderwah Road Naka Batote on national highway, arrested one person with 2 kgs of poppy straw(Bhukki)
Continuing it’s drive against the drug menace a police party at Bhaderwah Road Naka Batote while doing naka checking intercepted one Maruti Omni Van vehicle bearing registration number JK02 BR/0857 for routine checking , which was on it’s way from Doda towards Batote.
During the process of checking 2 kgs of poppy straw(Bhukki) like substance was recovered from his possession.On questioning the accused disclosed his identity as Sulinder Singh S/O Hans Raj , R/O Chakrawati,Tehsil Bhalla , District Doda , who was later arrested on the spot and recovered poppy straw like substance was also seized. It is pertinent to mention here that during the preliminary questioning, the said accused confessed that he was illegally transporting the poppy straw from Doda to Batote .
