The J&K Drug and Food Control Organisation, during a surprise visit, has issued a notice to a total of 27 medical shops in Srinagar and Budgam, while seven shops were sealed on the spot for violating the norms. The motive for the special visit was the de-addiction of drugs from youth.

These days, the youngsters purchase medicines from medical stores with doctor’s prescriptions, which increases the consumption of drugs. As a result, the 27 shops were found selling medication without the bill, and also, medicine storage was inappropriate, after which notices were issued to all the shops. And the seven shops which were sealed on the spot were selling prescribed medicines without a proper prescription. Therefore, the DFO also directed the medical stores to sell medicines with appropriate bills.

As per the reports, the DFO will conduct more such raids in other parts of the UT.
