With heavy rainfalls in the Jammu and Kashmir UT on Monday, many residential buildings and vehicles have drowned in water. Similar incident happened in Transport Nagar of Jammu where 20 slums, household goods and a woman drowned in the rain water.

“The rain water entered our slums at around 8 in the morning. Our eatables, furniture and other household stuff drowned in water. We are left with nothing.” said a daily wage worker living alongside a Naala in slums

“While collecting scattered things, my Mother’s foot slipped and she was carried away by water flow. Fortunately saved, She’s admitted in the Hospital.” added the other

According to the locals, the Government hasn’t taken a help initiative for them since they moved in. They asked the Administration for help and flood funds.

“We’ll belong to Chhattisgarh. It’s been more than 20 years we moved to Jammu. Our children grew here, still the Government doesn’t consider us equal to the locals. No one offered us help or provided residential lands after abolition of article 370.” they said

However, Jammu and Kashmir Police reached the Transport Nagar location to check the place conditions. As per residents, Police took their Aadhar Cards and went away for further help process.
