Div Com listens to public grievances at Ransoo in Reasi

REASI: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer on Sunday conducted an extensive tour of the Ransoo area of District Reasi and listened to people’s issues there. The Div Com also chaired a meeting at TRC Ransoo to review the progress on various development projects.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Charandeep Singh; ADDC, ACD, ACR, Executive Engineers of JPDCL, Jal Shakti, PWD, besides district officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Tourism, Rural Development, Education, and other concerned departments. The DDCs, BDCs, representatives and civil society members of adjoining Panchayats also attended the meeting. At the outset, the Divisional Commissioner interacted with the locals, listened to their grievances and directed the concerned officers to ensure timely redress of genuine issues. The PRIs and Public put forth their demands seeking improved road connectivity, renovation of school buildings, Health facilities, up gradation of Jal Shakti and Power infrastructure, rationalization of teaching staff in schools, sorting out of mining issues, development of water bodies and other issues of public concern.

The Div Com issued on the spot directions to the concerned departments for timely redress of the projected issues. He assured the PRIs, people that all the genuine demands would be met on priority. Responding to the water related issues, the Div Com inquired about the status of Gaj to Sangar water scheme, Rud nallah water project and other schemes. He directed the concerned authorities to expedite the work on the water supply schemes taken up under the Jal jeevan Mission and provide handpumps and start tanker supply to the water stressed areas. He welcomed the decision of district administration for revising the tendering rates under Jal jeevan mission and said that it will expedite the execution of proposed schemes. He directed the concerned to focus on Rainwater harvesting projects and ground water recharging in water scarce areas. “Water resources are depleting so water recharging projects should be given impetus”, he said. While listening to the grievances related to health, he directed the health department to provide X-ray facility at PHC Ransoo and upgrade Pouni PHC to SDH and address staff shortage problem. The Div Com also listened to grievances of the public related to Ransoo town planning scheme and Master plan. He directed for early completion of Deot Bridge and formulation of DPR of Barsoti to Chunalsangar road via Gulzar so as to provide better connectivity to the locals and attract tourists to potential places beyond holy Shiv Khori Shrine.

The concerned officers informed that most of the issues raised by the public would be resolved with the completion of the languishing projects, PMDP works and other ongoing government schemes. While taking stock of tourism sector projects, the Div Com reviewed the progress on cable car project from Ransoo to Shivkhori and directed Tourism authorities to develop facilities at Kotla and Sangra including tourist huts, washrooms and other amenities. He also directed for identification of other tourism potential spots by involving locals. “These far flung snowbound areas have huge tourism potential” he said and directed the Tourism department to explore possibilities for introducing Paragliding, adventure sports and other such tourist attraction facilities. The Div Com also inquired about the Agriculture and Horticulture sector and directed the concerned authorities to promote and develop rural haats with facilities of branding and processing and marketing of local produce like lemon grass, mango, peach, Guava etc. Later, the Divisional Commissioner visited Shiv Khori Shrine and paid obeisance in holy cave of Shiv Khori.

He Directed the concerned officers for further improvements in the trek route to cave through proper lighting ,installation of signboards, toilet facilities, drinking water facilities, Yatri sheds & other pilgrim amenities. The DC Reasi was told to create better infrastructure enroute and at the base station of Ransoo including IT enabled services, dedicated Web portal for the Holy shrine and inviting bids for restart of helicopter service between Katra to Shiv Khori.
