Notorious vehicle lifter arrested, 9 stolen scooties recovered

RAMBAN: Sangaldaan Police arrested a notorious vehicle lifter and recovered 9 stolen scooties from his possession. As per police sources, a team from Police Post Sangaldaan laid a naka and intercepted a scooty.

During scrutiny of documents, it came to fore that the scooty was stolen by the rider. Police arrested the rider, who was identified as Mohammad Shafi Najar, son of Mohammad Abdullah Najar, a resident of Dalwah Sangaldaan District Ramban, at present Sidhra District Jammu. He also confessed that the scooty bearing registration number JK02BS-2263, he was riding was stolen by him from Jammu. He was also involved 38/2017 under Section 379 RPC stands registered against him at Police Station Gool.

During sustained questioning, eight more scooties stolen from different areas of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir were recovered, thereby taking the total recoveries to 9. The accused further disclosed that he had destroyed one stolen scooty bearing registration JK11A-3424 and has placed that number plate on another stolen scooty bearing registration number JK02BG-7666. Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases and more recovery is expected from the said accused person.

Arrest as well as recoveries were was made by Incharge Police Post Sangaldaan Inspector Wasim Mehraj under the supervision of SHO Gool Inspector Muneer Ahmad, SDPO Gool Pardeep Kumar and SSP Ramban PD Nitya.
