DC appeals people to volunteer for inoculation, follow Covid SOPs

RAMBAN: Around 31000 persons in the 18-44 age group have been vaccinated in district Ramban, while the administration has scaled up the testing target to 2500 per day to keep a tab on the positive cases. Speaking at periodic press conference here, Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam informed that vaccination drive has witnessed overwhelming response of 18-44 year age group across the district and nearly 3000 people are being vaccinated on daily basis.

He said 31000 people have been vaccinated since the inoculation for 18-44 age group was started in the district. The DC said the administration has enhanced the target of Covid testing in the district upto 2500 tests per day including 2000 RAT and 500 RT-PCR to trace the Positive cases and keep close vigil on the situation. During the 2nd surge a total 3695 positive cases were reported in the district of which 3557 have recovered and discharged, he said and added that presently there are 102 positive cases under treatment, while the district has witnessed 43 Covid deaths.

The DC said that nearly 3000 people are being vaccinated on a daily basis. “The rate of vaccination will be further scaled up to achieve the target of vaccinating 1.21 lakh persons in the 18-44 year age group. The DC listed the 15 promises which need to be implemented by all the people to avoid the 3rd wave of Covid. He exhorted the youth and Government employees to take vaccination and encourage others for the same. He said that the Health Department is well prepared to provide the best health care to the people. He informed that all the paraphernalia is being supplied to the rural Covid Isolation centres established in all 143 Panchayats. “Several rural CCCs have also been provided with Medical Oxygen Concentrators. For the rest the Oxygen Concentrators would be supplied by Jammu Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation very soon” he said.

The DC said that while taking strict action against the violation of Covid safety protocols, the enforcement teams have recovered Rs 27 lakh since April 1 and nearly Rs 1 Lakh fine per day in the last 10 days. He said keeping in view the apprehension of resurgence of Covid infection, the District Administration has ordered the Enforcement teams to take strict action against violators, especially at tourist spots of Patnitop, Sanasar and Dagantop etc.

He said that MVD and Police have also launched a special drive to implement the order regarding plying of vehicles at 50% of total seating capacity. Referring to relaxation in Covid restrictions in the district, the DC urged the people to avoid going to crowded places.
