J&K Police Officer Charged In Bribe Case

The sleuths of Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau, Rajouri wing have produced a Chargesheet against the Sub-Inspector of Jammu and Kashmir Police in a bribe case.

The ACB spokesman here said that charge-sheet has been produced against the accused S-I namely Suresh Sharma of Saran, Gho Manahasa, Tehsil Marh, District Jammu, then Incharge Police Post, Rajouri City before the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Rajouri under relevant sections.

He said that the S-I was trapped on a complaint lodged by one Ajay Pal Singh of Sant Market Jammu after the accused demanded bribe from him for helping in investigation of a false case registered in Police Station Rajouri in which the maternal uncle of the complainant namely Sharanjit Singh was arrested by him.

The spokesman said that SI Suresh Sharma demanded Rs three lakhs from the complainant for helping his uncle during investigation of the case.

“After negotiation the said SI agreed to accept Rs one lakh as advance and rest of the amount after bail out of the complainant’s uncle,” the spokesman added.

“A trap team was constituted and the accused was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs One lakh in presence of independent witnesses,” said the spokesman further adding that the accused person was arrested on the spot.

Thereafter, he was released on bail granted by the Court. Investigation conducted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau proved the allegations of corruption charges against the accused.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau J&K produced a charge sheet against the accused person before the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court, Rajouri for further action
