JAMMU: Women Cell Police arrested a rape accused from Chandigarh. As per police sources, on June 12 this year, a written complaint was lodged by a lady with Police Station Women Cell stating that a person has raped her daughter.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 23/2021 under Section 376 IPC was registered at Police Station Women Cell and investigation started. During the course of investigation, a team led by SHO Police Station Women Cell Inspector Anita Katal was constituted under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Swati Sharma.
The team connected various leads and after hectic efforts got the input that the suspect has fled away to Punjab. On this, a team was sent to Punjab where with the support of technical assistance of the native police of the concerned areas, the accused was arrested from a hotel room at Zirakpur near Chandigarh border from where he was planning to flee away to Nepal.
The accused has been identified as Gagan Angral, son of Prithvi Raj, a resident of Ashok Nagar Satwari District Jammu. Further investigation into the case is going on.
