Srinagar : The J&K Education Council (JKEC) Wednesday said that it would abide by all the rules and regulations issued by the government to the private schools.
The statement comes days after the government pulled up Chief Education Officers (CEOs) for poor implementation of government orders in private schools. A directive was issued by the government to all CEOs to ensure proper implementation of government orders in private schools.
The instructions were issued after JKEC had opposed the government guidelines to reduce the screen time for students of holding online classes. “All the private schools will abide by the rules and regulations issued by the government,” the statement issued by JKEC reads.
The JKEC issued the statement after its meeting with the Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) to submit a report compiled by a panel regarding appropriate screen time for students and best practice of online education for students. The spokesperson of JKEC said that the Director Education stated that the report would be studied and all the issues addressed keeping in view the interests of the students.
The JKEC has extended its gratitude to the DSEK for its support and taking initiative to help the career of the students.
The JKEC had constituted a panel to get feedback from industry experts and stakeholders regarding the reduction of screen time after the government issued an order on curbing screen time.
“JKEC is of the opinion that any policy change regarding education is a sensitive issue and it should be undertaken after taking onboard all stakeholders, educationists and experts,” the JKEC handout reads.
The panel constituted by JKEC has conducted an online consultative workshop with experts and stakeholders to get their suggestions regarding the issue.
“There was a consensus that online education is the best tool for educating children during these times of pandemic. The report recommends that decisions on the timings of online classes should be taken by the schools and teachers who actually know about the strategies and methodologies to be adopted while delivering lessons online or offline,” the handout reads.
