JAMMU: Batote, Banihal and Gadigarh Police arrested six drug peddlers along with contraband. As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Station Batote led by SHO Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao laid a naka at Ladwal Morh and intercepted a person, who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 219 grams cannabis from the possession of the person and arrested him. The arrested person was identified as Rakesh Kumar, son of Shanker Lal, a resident of Chakwa Batote. A case under FIR Number 60/2021 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Batote and investigation started. Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Banihal led by SHO Inspector Nayeem laid a naka at T Chowk and intercepted Brezza car bearing registration number PB08DW-0210. During checking, police team recovered 42 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested three persons, who were identified as Tajinder Singh, son of Surinder Singh, Dinesh Bhola, son of Joginder Paul and Deepak Kumar, son of Rattam Lal, all residents of Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 118/2021 under Section 8/15/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation initiated. However, a team from Police Post Gadigarh led by Lakhvir Singh under the supervision of SHO Satwari Inspector Deepak Jasrotia laid a naka and intercepted two persons. During checking, police team recovered 3 grams heroin and weighting machine from the possession of these persons and arrested them. The arrested persons were identified as Anoop Sharma, son of Dilbagh Sharma of Pandoria Tehsil Bishnah District Jammu and Chanmeet Singh, son of Dileep Singh of Bhour Camp District Jammu.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Satwari and investigation initiated.
