SAMBA: Deputy Commissioner Samba, Anuradha Gupta today said that the district has shown a sustained decline in positive cases and in recovery rate in past few days. She was briefing media about the latest Covid-19 scenario in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner Samba informed that the positivity rate of Covid cases has declined from 13% to mere 2% while recovery rate of district is constantly increasing. The DC said that due to relentless testing and vaccination drives across the district there was an overall reduction in Covid cases, however the Covid-19 virus has ingress in rural areas. “Presently more than 60% cases are coming from rural samba and rest from sub urban and urban areas.
However administration has setup Covid care centres in each 101 Panchayats with all medical equipments, oximeters, contact less thermometers, beds and other necessary items to contain the Covid effectively in rural samba” said the DC. At present there are 31 Covid patients in district hospital samba, while 20 mild symptomatic Covid patients are in Covid care centre Bhargava College, which clearly reflects a decline, she informed. However, she advised the people not be complacent as wearing masks, maintaining social distance, using sanitizers should be use invariably” On new initiatives taken by Administration, the DC said that each ward/village/ town area is being earmarked and volunteers from locality shall be deployed for IEC activities like generating awareness about Covid.
“The volunteers and NGOs services will be utilised for ensuring there are no hidden Covid-19 cases or any one suffering from Covid like symptoms are not left out from testing and the people in non-vaccinated pockets are vaccinated on priority” said DC.
She also mentioned that the district is nearing 100% coverage of Covid vaccination as intensive mobile vaccination is carried out across the district.
