4 Punjab residents among 9 arrested with illicit liquor

JAMMU: RS Pura, Gangyal and Kathua Police arrested nine persons including four residents of Punjab alongwith illicit liquor. As per police sources, a team from Police Station RS Pura led by ASI Rajinder Singh during patrolling near Chohalla Morh and intercepted five persons who were moving under suspicious circumstances.

During checking, police team recovered 17 quarters, 28 pouches and 2 litres of illicit liquor from the possession of the persons and arrested them. The arrested persons were identified as Narinder Pal Singh, son of Lal Singh of Chohalla, Yash Pal, son of Manu Ram of Kotli Mian Fateh, Mulkh Raj, son of Des Raj of Kotli Mian Fateh, Ravinder Kumar, son of Sewa Ram of Kotli Mian Fateh and Som Nath, son of Sewa Ram of Kotli Mian Fateh. A case under FIR Number 102/2021 under Section 48 A Excise Act has been registered at Police Station RS Pura and investigation started.

The arrests were made under the supervision of SHO RS Pura Inspector Jai Pal Sharma and SDPO RS Pura Shabir Khan. It is pertinent to mention here that Police Sub Division RS Pura has tightened the noose against local booze makers and has recently destroyed around 3000 litres of illicit liquor. Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Gangyal led by SHO Inspector Raghubir Singh laid a naka at Purmandal Morh and intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers PB08DS-8006 and PB09K9615. During checking, police team recovered 60 bottles of illicit liquor from the vehicles and arrested two persons, who were identified as Akhil Saini, son of Ravinder Kumar and Shamsher Singh, son of Darshan Singh, both residents of Punjab. Cases under FIR Numbers 85/2021 and 86/2021 under Sections 48 (a) and 50 Excise Act have been registered at Police Station Gangyal and investigation started.

However, a team from Police Station Kathua under the supervision of SSP Kathua RC Kotwal laid a naka at Jarai Chowk and intercepted a vehicle. During checking, police team recovered 36 illicit liquor bottles and arrested two persons, who were identified as Ravinder Kumar, son of Puran Chand and Sunny Kumar, son of Jeewan, both residents of Narot Jamel Singh District Pathankote Punjab.

A case under FIR Number 248/2021 under Sections 188 IPC and 50 Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Kathua and investigation initiated.
