JAMMU: Several deaths occurring in remote areas, reportedly due to fever and chest diseases has stoked fears that Corona was raging unseen in the villages with a hapless administration failing to deal with the grim situation.

This was stated by Harsh Dev Singh Chairman-JKNPP and former Minister during a protest demonstration against the alleged neglect of rural areas by the Government. With majority of the rural areas facing chronic deficiency of doctors, para-medicos and medical equipments, the Government has failed to fulfil its constitutional obligation of providing appropriate healthcare to its citizens particularly those residing in villages with hardly any measures taken to prevent the spread of Corona in such areas or to even conduct the testing of the suspected patients.

Dwelling over the plight of poor rural folk during Corona distress, Singh divulged that the recent hailstorm had further added to their woes in view of complete damage of standing crops in several villages. The JKNPP leader claimed that even the ration meant for poor villagers is being sold in black market. “The existing dispensaries and other health centres had become defunct in majority of the villages due to chronic deficiency of staff and essential drugs and equipments,” he maintained.

Singh said that huge funds raised under PM’s Cares Fund needed to be utilized to save the vulnerable sections from starvation and other adverse fallouts of the deadly pandemic.
