KATHUA: In its action against drug menace in the district, Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal, recovered heroin like contraband in the jurisdiction of Kathua and Hiranagar Police Stations.
Four drug peddlers were arrested and contraband like item seized on spot. Police said a team of Police Post (PP) Industrial Estate, Kathua apprehended one person namely Gulzar Ahmed, son of Bashir Ahmed of Ward No.11, Kathua. During physical search approximately 11 grams of heroin like contraband was recovered from his possession.
He was arrested by the police party on the spot and the contraband item was also seized. In this connection a case vide FIR No. 244/2021 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act got registered at PS Kathua and further investigation was taken up. While in another instance, a police team of Police Station Hiranagar during naka checking at Chakra Chowk, intercepted one vehicle, Maruti Car bearing Registration Number JK21F-6352 and recovered 2.5 grams of heroin like contraband from the possession of three persons namely Ganesh Dass, son of Parshotam Lal of Chann Malagran tehsil Ghagwa, Rocky Kumar son of Narayan Dutt of Tapyal, tehsil Ghagwal and Vanish Verma son of Manohar Lal Verma of Tapyal tehsil Ghagwal.
A case vide FIR No. 69/2021 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act got registered in Police Station Hiranagar and further investigation is under process.
