Two bootleggers nabbed with 60 bottles of illicit liquor

SAMBA: Continuing its drive against the menace of illicit trade of liquor, Samba Police on Friday arrested two bootleggers and recovered 60 bottles from their possession. As per the details, a party of Police Station Samba while performing routine patrolling duty in its jurisdictional area, reliably learnt regarding the sale of illicit liquor at Mandi Lama Gurgalian.

At this, aforesaid patrolling party raided the spot and apprehended 2 persons who were selling illicit liquor at exorbitant rates to general public to gain illegitimate profit. During frisking of accused a total of 60 bottles (750 ml each) were recovered from their possession.

The accused persons identified as Sahmi Kumar Banotra, son of Kali Dass Mandi Gurgalian, Samba and Manoj Singh alias Moja, son of Jagdev Singh, resident of Mandi Lama, Samba, were arrested on spot and contraband item was also seized. A case vide FIR No. 154/2021 under section 48 (A) of Excise Act was registered against them at Police Station Samba.
