40 arrested for violating SOPs, 21 FIRs registered: SSP Jammu

JAMMU: Fourty persons were arrested for violating SOPs, which were issued in wake of rising cases of COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Chandan Kohli, 40 persons were arrested across Jammu district in the past 24 hours for violating pandemic guidelines. Around 12 shops, which were found floating the DM Jammu guidelines were also sealed, SSP said, adding that 21 FIRs were registered against the violators at different police stations across Jammu district.

Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Nagrota led by SHO Inspector Mohammad Shoket arrested four shopkeepers for violating COVID guidelines. The arrested persons were identified as Vijay Kumar, son of Munshi Ram of Seri Panjgrain, Raghav Sharma, son of Vijay Kumar of Narain Khoo, Tehsil Nagrota, District Jammu, Kiran Kumar Sharma, son of late Isher Dass of Naraian Khoo Tehsil Nagrota District Jammu and Vinay Chorasiya, son of late Balla Ram of Jagti Migrant Colony Nagrota. However, a team from Police Station Janipur led by SHO Inspector Nayat Ali booked two persons for keeping their establishment open and violating SOPs. The booked persons were identified as Sahil Jamwal, son of Sundershan Singh Jamwal, a resident of Narwal and Pranav Gupta, son of Garib Nath Gupta of Janipur.

The establishment (Easyday) at Janipur was also sealed. A team from Police Station RS Pura led by SHO Inspector Jai Pal Sharma arrested two persons for keeping their establishment open and violating SOPs. The booked persons were identified as Naresh Kumar, son of Gharu Ram of Gagian and Satpal Sharma, son of Makhan Lal of Purana Pind. A team from Police Station Domana led by SHO Inspector Mahesh Sharma arrested a person for violating guidelines. The arrested person was identified as Amit Kumar, son of Ashok Kumar, a resident of Peer Mitha. A team from Police Station Channi Himmat led by SHO Inspector Karan Chalotra arrested a shopkeeper identified as Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Mawa Brahmana Akhnoor, at present Sector C Sainik Colony for violating COVID SOPs.

A team from Police Station Gandhi Nagar led by SHO Inspector Bharat Sharma arrested six shopkeepers for violating Coronavirus guidelines. The arrested persons were identified as Rakesh Gupta, son of Bal Krishan Gupta of Ashok Nagar, Sudesh Verma, son of Thoru Ram of Jagti Nagrota, Pankaj Singh, son of Bhim Singh of Sanjay Nagar, Rohit Mahajan, son of Roshu Dutt of Sanjay Nagar, Badal, son of Jai Pal of Nai Basti and Manu Kumar, son of Ravi Kumar of Nai Basti.

Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Police Stations Nagrota, Janipur, RS Pura, Domana, Channi Himmat and Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
