2 juveniles among 8 arrested with stolen items worth several lakhs

JAMMU: Bahu Fort, Akhnoor and Bakshi Nagar Police arrested eight thieves including two juveniles and recovered stolen items worth several lakhs from their possession.

Bahu Fort Police solved a theft case with the arrest of 5 burglars and recovery of stolen items including cash and ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh. Sources informed that on April 22 this year, a written complaint was lodged by Manmohan Singh, son of Roop Singh of Trikuta Nagar with Police Station Bahu Fort stating that some unknown thieves entered into his house when he along with his family was out of J&K UT for pilgrimage and decamped with some cash and gold ornaments. One more similar complaint was also lodged by a person namely Dr Surinder Singh Kukal, son of Gurcharan Singh of Khu Wali Gali near Trikuta Nagar.

Acting over the complaints, cases under FIR Numbers 125/2021 under Sections 457 and 380 IPC and 129/2021 under Sections 457, 380 and 511 IPC were registered at Police Station Bahu Fort respectively and investigation started. During the course of investigation, a special team from Police Station Bahu Fort led by SHO Inspector Deepak Pathania was constituted under the supervision of SDPO City East Bikram Kumar. The special team with the help of CCTV cameras footages of the area and other technical aid finally nabbed five burglars including two juveniles. The arrested burglars were identified as Santosh Kumar alias Sukhi alias Mota, son of Shiv Lal, Vinod Ahirwar, son of Mathura Dass and Kalu, son of Bindu, trio residents of Madhya Pradesh.

On their disclosure stolen items including cash and ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh were recovered. It is pertinent to mention that out of the 5 thieves, three are notorious thieves who were involved in such type of crimes in many places like Domana, Amphalla, Gorkha Nagar, Narwal, Trikuta Nagar, Channi, Gangyal, Gandhi Nagar and many other areas mostly at shops during night hours. Meanwhile, Akhnoor Police arrested a notorious criminal and recovered 5 tolas stolen gold ornaments. As per police sources, on March 5 this year, a written complaint was lodged at Police Station Akhnoor by Vijay Sharma, son of Prabh Dayal of Kathar Tehsil Maira Mandrian Jammu stating that some unknown burglars have entered into his home and have stolen five tolas gold ornaments worth Rs 2.20 lakh. Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 58/2021 under Section 457 and 380 IPC was registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation was set into motion.

During the course of investigation, a team from Police Station Akhnoor led by SHO Inspector Hilal Azhar after decisive and strategic planning arrested the accused, who was identified as Shabir Shah, son of Sakhi Mohammad of Patta Tali Morh District from Srinagar. The stolen ornaments worth Rs 2.50 lakh were recovered on the disclosure of accused person. The arrested person is also involved in various criminal cases registered at Police Stations Reasi and Gharota. However, Bakshi Nagar Police solved two theft cases with the arrest of two burglars and recovery of stolen items worth Rs 1.70 lakh. Police sources informed that on February 8 this year, a complaint was lodged by Sudhir Gupta, son of Raj Kumar Gupta of Vikas Nagar Sarwal with Police Station Bakshi Nagar stating that some unknown persons have stolen his motorcycle bearing registration number JK02BU-4526 from Vikas Nagar.

One more complaint was lodged at Police Station Bakshi Nagar by Mukesh Kumar, son of Chaman Lal of Bahu Fort Jammu regarding theft of his Royal Enfield motorcycle bearing registration number JK02CH-1668 from Rajpura Chungi. Acting over the complaints, cases under FIR Numbers 24/2021 and 124/2020 under Section 379 IPC were registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar and investigation started. During the course of investigation of FIR Number 24/2021, a team from Police Station Bakshi Nagar led by SHO Inspector Ravi Kant and assisted by Incharge Police Post Sarwal SI Yougal Sharma under the supervision of SDPO West Rohit Nagar did strenuous efforts and apprehended the thief, who was identified as Rakesh Singh, son of Thani Ram of District Reasi. On his disclosure, 3 stolen vehicles including involved in FIR Number 24/2021 were recovered. During investigation of case FIR Number 124/2021, a team from Police Station Bakshi Nagar after putting in strenuous efforts arrested the vehicle lifter, who was identified as Sushant Raina, son of Hira Lal Raina, a resident of Subash Nagar District Jammu.

On his disclosure, stolen Royal Enfield motorcycle was recovered. Further questioning of all the thieves arrested by Bahu Fort, Akhnoor and Bakshi Nagar Police is going on to ascertain their involvement in other theft cases.
