The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sanctioned the procurement of one lakh portable oxygen concentrators from the PM Care Funds.
In a high-level meeting chaired by the PM to discuss the need and measures to improve the supply of liquid medical oxygen (LMO), the decision was taken. As per the meeting, PM Modi instructed the procurement of these oxygen concentrators at the earliest in states with large number of cases.
Apart from this, 500 new Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) oxygen plants have been sanctioned under the PM Care Funds adding to the previous 713 sanctioned PSA plants.
These portable oxygen concentrators and PSA plants will augment the supply of liquid oxygen in Hospitals with high demand of oxygen, helping to overcome the current challenges.
The 500 PSA plants will be established with transfer of the indigenous technology developed by DRDO and CSIR to the domestic manufacturers.
