J&K records highest COVID-19 spike of 2021

The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Tuesday reported biggest ever spike of the season as 3164 new cases were tested positive cases, highest ever since the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic last year, pushing the number of active cases to 22,283 which otherwise were less than 600 around a month before.

Twenty five more deaths were reported in J&K in last 24 years taking the death toll to 2,197 and the active cases continue to increase and the recovery rate decreases with each passing day. 3,164 fresh positive cases reported on Tuesday pushed the tally of positive cases to 166,054.

Of the exact number of 166,054 cases, 99,715 are from Kashmir and 66,339 from Jammu division. Officials said that among 3,164 new cases, 2,134 belong to Kashmir division while as 1,030 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 99,715 including 84,925 recoveries and 1,354 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 66,339 including 56,649 recoveries and 843 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 22,283 including 13,436 from Kashmir division and 8,847 from Jammu division.

With 1,457 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 141,574 which is 85.25 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 1,144 from Srinagar, 197 from Baramulla, 174 from Budgam, 70 from Pulwama, 97 from Kupwara, 143 from Anantnag, 123 from Bandipora, 66 from Ganderbal, 90 from Kulgam and 30 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 1,030 from Jammu division include 489 from Jammu, 65 from Udhampur, 68 from Rajouri, 41 from Doda, 100 from Kathua, 98 from Samba, 30 from Kishtwar, 39 from Poonch, 40 from Ramban and 69 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.
