JAMMU: Gangyal Police arrested a notorious vehicle lifter and recovered 10 vehicles.
As per police sources, on April 11 this year, a complaint was lodged by Rajinder Singh, son of Gurcharan Singh of Simbal Camp, at present Gurudwara Singh Sabha Model Town with Police Station Gangyal stating that on April 7 this year he had parked his motorcycle bearing registration number JK02BT-9070 at Kunjwani outside the house of Amarjeet Singh and went inside to conduct teaching session and when he returned back, he found that his bike had been stolen.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 51/2021 under Section 379 IPC was registered at Police Station Gangyal and investigation started. During the course of investigation, a special team headed by SHO Gangyal Inspector Raghubir Singh Choudhary and assisted by PSI Kapil Singh Wazir was constituted under the supervision of SDPO City South Parshotam Kumar Mengi. The team after hectic efforts and with the help of technical assistance and CCTV camera footages of the area nabbed the thief, who was identified as Ravinder Singh alias Mangu, son of Varinder Singh of Simbal Camp, Jammu.
During sustained questioning, accused confessed his involvement in the above case and on his disclosure, ten stolen vehicles were recovered. Out of 10 recovered vehicles, two vehicles were stolen from the jurisdictions of Police Station Gangyal and cases under FIR Number 31/2021 and 51/2021 under Section 379 IPC stands solved.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
