Kathua police continues crackdown on illegal mining

KATHUA: Kathua Police under the supervision of SSP, R C Kotwal, continuing its action against illegal mining within the district again launched crackdown at various places and seized six more vehicles including one excavator in the jurisdiction of various police stations.

In last three days Kathua police has seized total of 15 vehicles indulging in illegal mining. Police said one tipper was seized by a team led by SHO Police Station (PS) Rajbagh in its jurisdictional area. Besides, a team of Police Post (PP) Basantpur in its jurisdictional area near Basantpur seized a tractor and one excavator indulged for illegal mining and illegal transportation of construction material.

In addition two more dumpers were seized by a police team led by SHO PS, Hiranagar in its jurisdictional area. In another instance, a police team of PS Kathua under the supervision of SHO in its jurisdictional area near Barrian Pattan found two tractors which were indulged in illegal mining and carrying the illegal construction material. Police seized them on spot.

Meanwhile, all these vehicles were handed over to the officials of Mining Department, Kathua for further course of action.

Kathua police has appealed general public to come forward to share any valuable information with the Police for eradication of such menace.
