JAMMU: Traders Federation Ware House Nehru Market have expressed resentment against the new Excise Policy announced by J&K Government.
Federation president, Deepak Gupta in a meeting with representatives of Jammu Wine Traders Association (JWTA) asserted that the new policy appears to be aimed at eliminating small businessmen from the trade and benefiting only the rich capitalists. He said that it is quite unfortunate that before finalizing the Excise Policy 2021-22, apprehensions of Wine Traders were not cleared despite repeated protests by them.
He urged the Government to protect and safeguard the interests of the JKEL-2 license holders while implementing the Excise Policy 2021-22. “These licenses should continue to be renewed in terms of J&K Liquor License and Sale Rules, 1984 Governed by the J&K Excise Act SVT 1958,” Gupta said. He said, it is not understood why normative practice is not being adopted for traders involved in liquor who have served the department and were ground level worker of the department for decades who never defaulted on account of any type of dues and binding imposed by the department. Charanjeet Singh, JWTA spokesman said, despite taking up the matter with Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and MoS PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh, nothing has been done and today the department issued the schedule of e-auction which is very unfortunate.
Munish Mahajan, Sr. Vice President of Federation, Abhimanyu Gupta, Jr. Vice President, Sham Lal Langer, General Secretary, Vishal Gupta, Secretary, Amit Gupta, Federation Cashier and Digvijay Singh, Acting President JWTA were also present during the meeting.
