Jammu Police recovers liquor smuggled from Haryana

JAMMU: In continuation to the drive launched against liquor smuggling and drugs peddling, Jammu Police on Saturday arrested a narco smuggler alongwith of 1 kg Ganja and 32 bottles of Haryana made liquor.

As pr the details, during Naka at near Channi Puli at Trikuta Nagar, Police intercepted a truck (HR55S/7104) for checking. 

On seeing police party, the driver of the truck tried to run away from the spot but was over powered by the alert cops. On checking, one Kg ganja and 32 bottles of smuggled liquor bottles if Charlie brand were recovered from his possession. The driver identified as Rajesh Kumar alias Nagar alias Bittu, son of Das Ram, resident of village Dhindey Khurd, Bishnah, Jammu was arrested. FIR 111/2021 under sections 8/20/25 NDPS Act, 48 (A) Excise Act was registered against him at Police Station Trikuta Nagar.

Police team led by Inspector Deepak Pathania SHO Trikuta Nagar under the supervision of Bikram Kumar SDPO East made the recovery. On March 18, Samba Police had seized 2,224 bottles of Whisky (First Choice) stocked in the premises of M/S New Sarwan Sons Battery, Phase II SIDCO Samba, purportedly for sale in the peripheral areas at exorbitant rates without paying any excise duty.

Accordingly, FIR 85/2021 U/S 48 (a) Excise Act was registered at PS Samba.
