Indian Army organises painting competition for school children in Poonch

POONCH: With the aim to encourage children/ youth in Nation building activities, Army conduct an awareness programme on “Catch the Rain Campaign” incorporating various Government Schools in Loran in District Poonch.

Every year, 22 March is observed as the World Water Day. Lecture and drawing competition on the theme of “Valuing Water” and “Rain Water Harvesting” was organised. Students from various schools participated in the event which culminated with prize distribution to motivate the young artists. The event was witnessed by teachers and prominent personalities of village Loran and nearby areas.

The students painted their heart out on the canvas enthusiastically displaying their concern about the water scarcity. Shaima Ruksar, Block Development Officer and Mr Bashir Karmaan, Sarpanch of Loran distributed prizes to winners and runners up. Students, Staff and guests pledged to save water for the future generations.

Sarpanches, Parents and Teachers appreciated the gesture of the Army for making their young children aware of the need to conserve water.
