JAMMU: 47th UT level Badminton Championship, organised by Badminton Association of J&K, commenced at Badminton Hall Indoor Sports Complex MA Stadium.
The championship was inaugurated by Secretary Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul. Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary Sports Council underlined the need of more and more sports activities in the J&K UT to engage the youth in positive direction and assured all types of support and facilities from the Council for upliftment of Badminton. Umair Mir, Joint Commissioner IRS, Zaffer Iqbal, Chief Accounts Officer JKSC, Dr OD Sharma, chairman BAJK, Ashok Singh, Divisional Sports Officer Jammu and many others were present during the inaugural ceremony. In boys single under-13 category, Shourya Pratham, Yathrath Devedi, Kavin, Banu Pratap Singh, Gopesh Singh, Rabvij Singh and Harsh Sharma beat Arab Azad, Akshit Kaluria, Sajal Mishra, Mouszam, Tariq Murad, Shivansh and Salman respectively, whereas in girls singles under-13, Diamond trounced Ibadat.
In boys single under-15, Akul Mengi, Soham Sharma and Vansh Mahajan defeated Sameer, Murad Tariq and Jaskaran Singh respectively, whereas in boys single under-19 category, Arvinder Singh, Aan Mir, Anish Thakur, Arunav Thakur, Vansh Chuhan Akshay Kulbandhu and Aryan got better of Akshay Sharma, Parth Mishra, Divum Dubey, Hadi, Akhil Thakur, Ojas Suri, Abhishek Sudan and Satyam Tondon respectively.
