JAMMU: The victims of non-settled SRO-43/376 cases including family members of policemen who died while discharging their duties today held strong protest demonstration against Lt Governor of J&K UT and the Chief Secretary, for non-clearance of their pending files since long.
The victims of SRO-43 cases assembled near Press Club of Jammu and then held strong protest demonstration against the new UT Government for non-settlement of pending SRO-43 cases besides some cases of SRO-376. They were shouting slogans against the Chief Secy and also in support of their demands. They alleged that during previous Government many cases of similar nature were settled without harassment or victimisation of the victim families but for the last about one and half year many files are pending in the GAD or in the office of Chief Secretary. They further alleged that these files are being rejected on different unjustified reasons. It seems that this new Administration is hell bent to reject appointments on compassionate grounds. They said about 48 cases of SRO-43/376 of 2017 were settled some time back but their cases have not been cleared due to the reasons best known to the people at the helm of affairs. Though SRO files have been approved by the concerned departments but the GAD/ Chief Secretary’s office is not clearing these large number of pending files.
They sought the intervention of Lt Governor, Manoj Kumar Sinha and Union Minister in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh into the matter. After holding protest for over two hours and speaking to the media at the venue, they dispersed.
