Lakhanpur police rescues 3 bovines, arrests 2 smugglers

KATHUA: Lakhanpur police has rescued three bovine animals and arrested two smugglers besides seized the vehicle in which they were being smuggled.

Police said a team of Police Station (PS), Lakhanpur led by SHO, Lakhanpur, Sanjeev Chib under the supervision of Additional SP, Kathua, Ramnish Gupta while performing vehicle checking duty noticed a suspicious truck bearing Registration Number, JK18-0465 which was being driven by Ravi Kumar, S/o Shanker Dass, of Neep Nalha tehsil, Udhampur who was accompanied by other person namely Amil Malik, S/o Muneer Ahmed of New Plot Jammu, was signaled to stop for checking.

On thorough checking of the vehicle, three bovines were found loaded in it which were concealed in a specially made cavity so that no one could be able to see it from outside as it seem to be unloaded vehicle externally. Meanwhile, vehicle was seized and accused were arrested. Thereafter, police team was able to rescue the bovines on spot. By taking this cognizance case FIR No. 21/2021 U/S 188/IPC, 11/PCA Act has been registered in concerned Police Station and investigation has been set into motion, accordingly.

It may be recalled that Kathua police under the directives of SSP, Shailendra Kumar Mishra has tightened its noose against the bovine smugglers, drug peddlers and mining mafia in the district.
