JAMMU: District Jammu lifted the overall championship trophy of the 23rd J&K UT Taekwondo Championship, which was organised by J&K Taekwondo Association at Bhagwati Nagar Indoor Complex, here.
The overall second position was bagged by District Poonch, whereas third place went to District Doda considering the points earned out of the medals won during the three days event. In Kyorugi, around 100 fight bouts took place while in other event of Poomsae there were 44 pattern performances. Commissioner/Secretary, Higher Education, Talat Parvez was the chief guest, who along with senior BJP leader, Abhijit Singh Jasrotia presented the medals and overall championship trophies to players. Sham Lal (KAS, Additional Mission Director JKRLM), Tarun Uppal (chairman Nirbhay Bharat Foundation) and Sukhdev Singh (District officer DYSS) were among guests of honour during the closing ceremony. The closing was also graced by special guests including Subash Shastri (president NMC), DS Jamwal (retired District Commissioner), Himanshu Sharma (legal advisor JKTA), Ramesh Sharma (joint secretary JKTA), Shiva Ram Sharma (executive member Brahman Sabha). The technical penal, led by Sarbjeet Singh (Chandigarh) had a tough time to meet the deadlines of the laid down schedule.
Ankit Upadhyay (Delhi), Akshish (Delhi), Vivek Prasad (Delhi), Kamlesh Kumar Bairwa (Rajasthan), Bilal Ahmed Dar (Srinagar), Burhan Ud Din Khan (Doda), Jagpreet Kour (Jammu), Shanaz Parveen (Ladakh), Aman (Delhi), Deepak Yaduvanshi (UP), Ankit Mer (Uttarakhand), Priyanshu Bisht (Uttarakhand) and Suhel (Delhi) were also part of technical panel. Earlier, Anuj Sharma organising secretary presented welcome address, whereas vote of thanks was given by Technical Director of JKTA, Atul Pangotra.
