A young leopard was found dead in the snow bound area of Dera Gali in Thanamandi Sub Division of district Rajouri. Official sources said that some hunters had gone for hunting in Dera Gali forest and they noticed a young leopard lying dead on the snow in the forest. Later, they came down on the road and contacted police at Thannamandi and also Forest staff at Rajouri on phone. The Wild Life Department staff from Rajouri along with a Veterinary doctor and police party from Thanamandi reached the spot and later shifted the big wild cat in a load carrier to Thannamandi. The police registered a case in this connection. A senior official from WL Deptt said that preliminary findings have indicated that leopard had died due to severe cold. But things will be clear after postmortem. No bullet injury has found on body, he said.
