“Once a soldier, always a soldier”, the saying amply fits for L/Nk (Retd) Naseer Ahmad. He is resident of a remote hamlet in Loran. His village Danna is one of the remote areas in the region along the foothills of Pir Panjal Ranges. He belongs to a humble family of cattle grazers and lived through poverty growing up. Despite the odds, he struggled and worked tirelessly for his family, which consisted of his parents, three sisters and a brother. Being the sole earner for his family, he took up the responsibilities of his family on his own shoulders at a very young age. He joined the Indian Army in the year 2003. Having served in the Indian Army for 17 years in Territorial Army before hanging his boots recently in Nov 2020, the soldier actively took part in various CI Ops in Poonch region. As part of OP RAKSHAK and his commitment and devotion towards his duty to the Nation, he was awarded “GOC-in-C Commendation Card” in the year 2011. Post retirement, the ageing but zealous soldier returned to his family and took up the responsibilities of his young children and old parents, alongwith working for the betterment of the society. He plans to contribute and participate in community development programmes with enthusiasm. The soldier also plans to facilitate the various outreach projects of the Indian Army to the best of his efforts. His amalgamation into the lives of local people is kindling small yet impactful changes in for flung area. He has motivated and helped youth of his village to join Indian Army through various entry schemes. Presently he is training and guiding the youth along with the Army personnel at Loran for Pre Recruitment Rally Training for Recruitment scheduled in Feb-Mar 2021. Serving the Nation and helping the society has earned him a respectable image in his community and is seen as an idol by youth of his village. He truly is a “Real Hero” for the society
