External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar interacted with the members of the Indian community in UAE yesterday and assured them of the government’s responsiveness on issues pertaining to post-COVID normalcy. During the virtual meeting, the external affairs minister appreciated the Indian expatriate community’s move to help the Indian Embassy to meet the coronavirus challenge. Dr Jaishankar paid a two-day official visit to the UAE. On the first day of his tour on Wednesday, he called on Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his appreciation of the UAE leadership for taking great care of Indians during the Covid-19 pandemic. In a tweet, the external affairs minister said, the UAE’s care and consideration of the large Indian community residing there was deeply appreciated. He said, the two leaders exchanged views on important regional and international issues, during the meet. Dr Jaishankar held discussions with his UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the entire range of bilateral issues yesterday. He briefed the UAE side on the progress made by India in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, both on the health and economic front. Both sides reviewed their cooperation on various facets of their comprehensive strategic partnership including trade, investment, infrastructure, energy, food security and defence.
