Mayor inspects various sections of JMC, kick starts macadamization

Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta along with officers and officials of concerned section on Monday visited in the vital statistics as well as Election Section of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and took stock of working of both the sections of JMC where large number of visitors approached him for getting birth and death certificates, voter lists and other allied documents. During the inspection, certain directions were issued to the staff members by the Mayor with regard to maintaining of proper social distancing and timely disposal of the applications received by the Birth and Death and Election Section to issue the certificates in view of COVID – 19 pandemic. Mayor further said that JMC has also installed POS machines in the Vital Statistic Section to avoid any type of revenue loss as well as corrupt practices. JMC has also started home delivery of birth and death certificates under “Door Step Governance” initiative. The online system has been launched to avoid enormous gathering of general public and to promote contactless efficient public service delivery system. This initiative is being taken to promote Digital India and E-Governance initiative of Government of India. Mayor said that it will provide great relief to the general public and also eliminate the requirements to reach JMC office for such services. He appealed the general public to take full benefit of the online services launched by the JMC and to avoid approaching JMC for getting their birth & death certificates in view of COVID – 19 pandemic. He also went around whole complex of Town Hall and gave on spot instructions to the supervisory staff of Health & Transport section to deploy available Safaikarmcharies, autos as well as install dustbins at suitable places in the complex and get the Town Hall properly cleaned on daily basis. Earlier Mayor along with Tripta Devi, Councillor of Ward No 66 kick started the black topping work of various roads and lanes at Sharika Vihar Sector No 1 of Ward No: 66 on the demands of locals as these roads were badly damaged and people of the area were facing great hardships. Mayor was apprised that an amount of Rs. 2.61 lacs has been sanctioned for these macadamization works in this Ward. He directed the concerned to complete the black topping with best quality & durable material & upto the satisfaction of the locals.
