With Jammu reeling under acute stress in view of its continued neglect and deprivation even after J&K’s reorganization and abrogation of Article 370, the saner elements of the region need to come forward to support and strengthen those fighting for justice. This was stated by Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman JKNPP while addressing a press conference here along with Prof. Jai Kumar Sharma, renowned educationist who joined NPP along with many other retired officers. He said, unemployed and underemployed youth are on roads, general masses feeling greatly concerned over stalled development projects, soaring corruption and threat of rising prices. “With 4G internet continue to remain elusive and Jammu flooded with Toll Plazas, the people in general are feeling let down by their own leaders. Under such circumstances it is NPP alone projecting issues of common man and fighting anti-Jammu decisions,” Singh told reporters. Others who joined NPP included Kulbhushan Singh Sambyal, retired Joint Director Agriculture; Prof. G.P Singh, Specialist in Hospitality & Tourism and Choudhary Gurdeep Singh, a prominent businessman of Jammu. Appealing the intelligentsia and saner elements in the society to come forward to save Jammu, Harsh Dev claimed politics of opportunism and deception practiced by the present leaders could do unimaginable harm to Jammu. “Those who facilitated the release of stone-pelters of valley, formulated schemes for rehabilitation of surrendered militants, lodged FIRs against army personnel, imposed Kashmiri language in Jammu colleges, allowed raising of pro Pak slogans in Legislative Assembly, refused holiday on birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh, refused CBI probe in Rasana case, imposed service tax on Hindu pilgrimage etc could in no case be allowed to assume the mantle of Jammu leadership,” he maintained.
