With no let-up in ceasefire violations, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) was martyred on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday after Pakistan violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. Lt Col Devender Anand, PRO (Defence) Jammu confirmed the killing of the JCO, saying the incident took place in Keri sector of Rajouri. JCO Subedar Rajesh Kumar of 43 RR lost his life in cross-border firing along LoC in Tarakundi area. He was a native of Kalichpur village in Mukerian tehsil of Hoshiapur district in Punjab. The mortal remains will be taken to his hometown from Rajouri on Thursday morning. Official sources said the Rajesh Kumar was posted at a forward location in Keri sector and he suffered fatal injuries when Pakistan resorted to firing and shelling from across the LoC. The Army retaliated strongly to silence the enemy guns.
