Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has said that the government has planned to establish COVID testing facility in every district of the country. He was speaking at the launch ceremony of high throughput testing facilities in Noida, Mumbai and Kolkata yesterday. He said the three facilities will be able to test more than 10,000 COVID samples everyday. Dr Harsh Vardhan said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India undertook a preemptive approach towards containment of COVID-19. He informed that starting from just one testing facility in Pune, Maharashtra only six months ago, the country has now more than 1,300 such testing facilities. The Health Minister said, 97 per cent of the country today has easy access to the testing facility. Dr Harsh Vardhan informed that ICMR started validation centres at 24 places in the country for granting easy and speedy approvals to novel testing and treating techniques. On the significance of testing in order to contain the pandemic the Minister said, the situation in the National Capital has been brought under control after increasing the testing numbers.
