Strongly condemning the union Government for installing two additional Toll Plazas on National Highway from Lakhanpur to Jammu and proposal for establishing another two such plazas-at Fallian Mandal on Ring Road and on Akhnoor Road, Harsh Dev Singh, JKNPP Chairman said the move was fraught with dangerous portends. He said that people of Jammu were wary of even the existing Toll Plazas at Ban and Sarore which were taxing them heavily in addition to another one at Nashri. Addressing a press conference in Jammu, Harsh Dev described the proposed operation of six Toll Plazas in close proximity of Jammu as an act of organized and institutionalized loot. He said that he will launch an agitation in case the decision to install new Toll Plazas is not revoked at the earliest. Singh lambasted BJP for its criminal silence towards the grave issues of public importance like increased toll, taxation, ever increasing petrol and diesel prices and enhanced fines under the new Motor Vehicles Act. Manju Singh, General Secretary, Surinder Chouhan, District Jammu (Rural) and Anita Choudhary, Secretary-Women Wing were also present in the press conference.
