DGP concludes 4-day visit to Kashmir, says JKP must continue its proactive role

Greater synergy and consistent drive against enemies of peace is paying dividends and yielding good results. Such efforts must continue to ensure that peace is maintained and safeguarded against the onslaughts of elements opposed to a peaceful environment in Jammu and Kashmir. This was stated by Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh on his visit to South Kashmir’s Shopian and Anantnag Districts. Accompanied by Inspector General of Police, Vijay Kumar, the DGP was received by SSP Shopian and other police officers and a guard of honour by a police contingent was presented as he arrived at District Police Lines Shopian. The DGP chaired a security review meeting and also interacted with the Jawans. The security review meeting was attended by DIG South Kashmir Range, Atul Goyal, SSP Shopian Amritpal Singh, ASP Shopian Arif Amin, DySP Ops Keller Majid Ali, DySP Ops Zainapora Umer Amin, DySP Ops Imamsahib Touseef Ahmad and DySP DAR Nisar Ahmad. Addressing the meeting, the DGP commended the tireless efforts of the District Police and Security forces in bringing down the terrorist activities by sustained operations during the past 6 days during which 14 terrorists of HM and LeT have been neutralised providing a better sense of security to the people in the area. He said that the sustained efforts of JKP and synergy of police with other forces have yielded notable successes on anti-insurgency front and added that such efforts shall continue in future also to ensure peaceful environment for the people of Jammu and Kashmir who have been victim of Pak sponsored terrorism since decades. The DGP said that despite recent successes, there are serious challenges of security and we should continue our sustained actions to ensure long-lasting peace. While reiterating the importance of continued vigil over the emerging situations, there should be no let up on the security concerns and required measures, the DGP stressed. The DGP later visited Anantnag District and interacted with SSP Anantnag, ASP Anantnag and other territorial officers about current security scenario of the district. He enquired about the progress made by police in bringing the killers of Sarpanch Ajay Pandita to justice. The DGP also advised the Police officers to look for and bust narco -terror networks. SSP Anantnag Sandeep Choudhary briefed the DGP about the measures being taken to further tighten the security arrangements in the area.
