Ladakh MP visits Zanskar, takes stock of public issues

Member Parliament (MP) Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal during his tour of Zanskar Sub Division interacted with people’s delegations and public representatives to assess their developmental needs, issues, demands and grievances. The MP along with the public representatives and officers visited Lungnak up to Shinkula to review the progress of road connectivity and ongoing snow clearance works. He also met with public delegations at Kargiak, Sking, Tangzey, Kuru, Marling, Purney and adjoining villages and listened to their issues, grievances and demands. The representatives of these villages projected a number of demands which included augmentation of drinking water supply, healthcare and telecommunication facilities, improvement in education sector and road connectivity besides other related issues. The MP gave a patient hearing to all issues and concerns raised by the people and assured them that all genuine demands would be addressed in a phased manner. He assured people that all out efforts would be made to accelerate the pace of developmental works in the remote and backward villages of Ladakh region. As regards to the provision of telecommunication facilities, the MP assured the public representatives and locals that a V-Sat shall be sanctioned and installed at village Kargiak at the earliest possible. The MP further informed people that 12 mobile towers have already been sanctioned for Zanskar Sub Division. He said that work for installation of these towers could not be executed in time due to the countrywide lockdown in view of COVID-19 pandemic and assured people that work would start as soon as the situation improves. The MP while expressing concern over the worst condition of Lungnak road assured to take the matter with the Director General Border Roads Organization (BRO). He also took strong notice of none of the officers of BRO accompanying him during the tour. Meanwhile, the MP also took brief from the officers about all the ongoing developmental schemes as well as the works projected under the Special Development Package, UT Budget and Capex Budget and exhorted upon them to work with added zeal and dedication to ensure completion of all works well in time while keeping into consideration the short working season.
